Dendreon Presents Data Correlating the Cumulative Potency of PROVENGE ...
SEATTLE and SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Researchers from Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ: DNDN) today presented data demonstrating the correlation of a measure of the cumulative potency of PROVENGE (sipuleucel-T), an investigational active cellular immunotherapy for hormone-refractory prostate cancer, with overall survival. This is the first time that an association between higher potency of an active immune therapy and increased patient survival has been reported. The correlation appeared to be independent of other important baseline prognostic factors. The abstract (#21), "Cell Number and CD54 Expression in Sipuleucel-T Correlate with Survival in Metastatic Androgen Independent Prostate Cancer," is being presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology's 2008 Genitourinary Symposium in San Francisco.
Ghana: Brouhaha Over Diversion of Relief Items At Saboba
Confusion is said to have engulfed the Saboba branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS), and some citizens of the area, over an allegation that the officer in charge of Red Cross in the district, Mr. Henry Kolan, had diverted relief items meant for victims of last year's flood. Whilst Messrs. Andrew Namuel, Patience Wumbei and Master Kanjo, who work with the Red Cross, are accusing their boss, Henry Kolan, of diverting the relief items, the latter is also blaming a volunteer of the society, and National Disaster manegment Organisation (NADMO) officials of the mass diversion of the relief items. .

The results of the two-year analysis undertaken as part of the formal stability program demonstrate that the immunogen component of RiVax™, a recombinant derivative of the ricin A chain, is stable under storage conditions for at least two years without loss of its natural configuration or the appearance of any detectable degradation products. A vaccine is considered by many to be the best way to prospectively protect populations at risk of exposure against ricin toxin.

But those sex differences didn't hold up in a new in-depth study of romantic attraction undertaken by two Northwestern University psychologists.
In short, the data suggest that whether you're a man or a woman, being attractive is just as good for your romantic prospects and, to a lesser extent, so is being a good earner.
"Sex Differences in Mate Preferences Revisited: Do People Know What They Initially Desire in a Romantic Partner?" was published in the February issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
