You likely took credit for some wins, which you deserved, but maybe you didn't dish our as much credit as you could have.

Now's the time to make up for it. Beginning by making a list of contributions each of your crew has made through the year, and either privately, or better yet publicly, acknowledging the work and the value is a good start. But honestly, it's almost impossible to go too far. Make a splash. Do something special. You wouldn't have your business if your people didn't go the extra mile for you day-in and day-out, week-in and week-out.

3. The Holidays aren't much fun if you spend them alone. I'm lucky. I have great partners and a tremendous team. I often wonder how the SOHO's do it. I couldn't. But you don't have to be SOHO to spend a lot of time making management decisions alone.

State Of The Union Address/Democratic Response Coverage - Monday ...

And I use that verb “see" deliberately. The last time anything like this happened, 1928, with Calvin Coolidge. There was, of course, no TV. No Mr. Coolidge's speech, then still known by its formal title, the President's Annual Message to Congress. It was nationally broadcast on radio as long ago as 1923. So that's the historical oddness of the thing, Mr. Matthews.

Let's pick up on the point that I interrupted you at, at the start of the hour here, the idea that we may have just seen a vice presidential candidate walk in.

CHRIS MATTHEWS, MSNBC ANCHOR: Condoleezza Rice, despite the difficulties of this foreign policy, including the war, which is immensely unpopular—a very small number of Americans like the war in Iraq or the decision to go to war in Iraq—Condoleezza Rice has escaped largely unscathed by that.

Price site shake-out

Everyone likes a bargain and the rapid growth of price comparison websites shows that savvy consumers are prepared to shop around online to get the best deal.

Moneysupermarket.com, launched almost a decade ago, was quickly followed by a host of other sites offering comparison on everything from flat screen televisions to mortgages. As the market expanded supermarkets, search engines and financial companies scrambled for a piece of the action.

Credit checking giant Experian yesterday confirmed speculation that, "due to interest from a host of private equity and listed companies", its PriceGrabber site is under review, which could lead to a sale of the business.

This comes just three months after Yahoo said it was looking at ways to improve the performance of its European shopping comparison site Kelkoo, triggering reports it was also up for sale.

St. Cloud Apollo will have to wait another season to get that elusive win over its South Side nemesis.

Junior Grant Spanier and sophomore Blake Vogel had a goal and an assist each and junior Jared Maetche added two assists as St. Cloud Tech rode a balanced attack to a 5-2 victory over St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday night at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

The win completed the Tigers' sixth consecutive season sweep over the Eagles.

"You know it's going to be tough every time against Tech," Apollo senior Jake Althaus said. "It's been so long since we've beaten them. We tried to come out and be that team to finally stop them, but we just came out flat."

"It's always a huge game (with Apollo)," Tech senior Alex Coulter said. "A lot of us are friends off the ice, but as soon as the game starts, it's always on."

Both sides came out flying early, with captivating back and forth play marking the game's first 90 seconds, but Tech quickly made their mark on the game with the first goal.

Shepherding faculty research

Located smack in the middle of the United States, St. Louis seems an unlikely place to study tropical diseases typically found half a world away in Africa and Asia. But when Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., came to Washington University as a fellow in 1983, he knew he wanted to devote his career to tropical diseases, having spent time treating patients in Africa as a Harvard medical student. .

Gap Widens in the Last Bush Budget

The $3.1 trillion budget President Bush sent to Congress yesterday promises to bring the federal deficit to near-record levels due to a $145 billion economic stimulus package and plunging corporate tax receipts. The budget deficit is expected to reach $410 billion in this fiscal year, just shy of the record set four years ago. The deficit for fiscal year 2009, which begins in October, is estimated at $407 billion.

Economists say that while these deficit projections are enormous, the reality is likely to be far more severe because the administration is assuming a rosy picture of economic growth that is unlikely to bear out. If growth is more sluggish, as the Federal Reserve, the Congressional Budget Office, and others predict, the deficit will balloon.

The budget, which is for the 2009 fiscal year, is a 6% increase from projected spending in this year's $2.9 trillion budget.

Tourism, growth a 'Brooklyn story' says Beep Marty Markowitz in final ...

A commitment to provide public funding for a first-of-its-kind community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in downtown Brooklyn. The approval of an advertising high school, to be located on the Canarsie High School campus, by the Education Department. The selection of London-based firm Grimshaw Architects to design an amphitheater in Asser Levy Park. A renewed vow to restore the legendary Parachute Jump to its original role as a death-defying amusement park ride.

But Markowitz made only one fleeting mention of a possible run for mayor this year, much as he did in last year's address.

"So c'mon, eight ball?" said Markowitz, near the end of his speech as he shook an oversized magic eight ball. "Are we going to take this Brooklyn story on the road?"

The answer, which appeared on an overhead projection screen, said simply, "Too soon to tell."

Save a Cow, Go to Leo's

According to the PETA2 Web site, Georgetown University is the ninth most vegetarian-friendly campus in the United States, the result of an internet poll conducted at the end of 2007. As far as the Editorial Board is concerned, this is impressive news. Among those universities that are higher-ranked than Georgetown are Northwestern at number one, Yale in second place and UC Berkeley in the third place. It's about time we heard some good feedback about the dining facilities, and if an organization like PETA says the food is good, we are inclined to believe them.

We are excited that the university is successful at both improving the quality of service, as well as improving the lives of a non-mainstream group of students. Many Hoyas make the dietary choice of abstaining from meat for a smorgasbord of reasons.
